How I Operate

This manual is a living note to myself - a reminder to stay honest about how I want to think, work and show up. I revisit it often to live by what I believe in. It’s mostly written for me, but if something here helps you, that makes me happy 🙂

  • I love bullet points. That’s how I communicate. Expect to receive a lot of YABLs (Yet Another Bullet-point List) if you’re working with me.
  • I prefer candor and informality. I make jokes and keep things light. I like to do serious work without being too serious while having a lot of fun. (I’m a firm believer in bringing your whole self to work. The more fun we have → the more trust we build → the better we collaborate → the better work we produce)
  • I enjoy working in fast paced environments, I’m best when I’m busy and getting things done.
  • I like it when you do your homework and bring clear questions to me so that I can help you with decisions.
  • I love when you question things – processes, ideas, projects, priorities, decisions, direction, strategy… anything.
  • I am very inconsistent in my work hours. I am a night owl, so don’t be surprised if I message you late at night! I don’t expect you to respond.
  • I believe in building strong relationships, but don’t believe that comes from more meetings, unless they’re specifically dedicated to that purpose.
  • I don’t keep a timesheet for when you clock in and out of work. I don’t count how many leaves you take. I trust you.
  • When you’re not feeling it, take time off. I don’t keep a tab on how long you’re gone for; I just expect you to be back 100% when you return.
  • High intent, low skill? We’re good. I have great respect for the willingness to learn and improve. Skills are teachable. Intent isn’t.
  • Progress over perfection. I have a bias for action, iterating quickly and embracing imperfection to drive real outcomes and impact while maintaining high quality, rather than getting bogged down in endless refinement.
  • Do it anyways. Tired, no support, scared, afraid of failing, fear of rejection. Doesn’t matter. The perfect moment rarely arrives, so you show up every day. Consistency, courage, and ownership compound. That’s how the game is won, in life and in work: “I do it anyways!”.
  • I like to connect with my team outside work as well, so you’d see me take interest in your hobbies and other activities purely out of curiosity. Also if you’re interested, I love traveling, tasting coffee and whiskeys from around the world, and tinkering with gadgets + software/apps.
